Yr 10 - Cover Work (31st January)

Hi all,

I am on the PSHE day for Year 9 today so below is your cover work. Please complete all tasks in your book and stick any worksheets in.

Task 1

Research the two music videos you have chosen. For each video, find the answers to the following questions:

  1. Who is the artist?
  2. How long has the artist been famous for?
  3. What was their first single?
  4. What are their most successful songs?
  5. Watch a few of their past videos - what is their style like?
  6. What are they best known for? (i.e. being rebellious? girl power? innocence? being overly sexual? etc...)
  7. What is the genre of the song? How can you tell?
  8. When was the song released?
  9. EXTENSION QUESTIONS: What was happening around the the release? Any controversy? What did people say about the video? Where their other artists producing similar songs/videos?

Task 2

Watch the the video below by Britney Spears and make notes on the worksheet to describe what you see and then, most importantly, what you think it means. Think back to when we analysed Beyonce. We described what we saw (the crown) and then we said what we thought it meant (power/status). That's what you need to do in this task.

You must watch it 4 times and after each watch, complete a different section of the worksheet: Mise-en-scene, Sound, Editing and Camerawork.

Stick the worksheet into your book once you have finished and we will share our ideas in tomorrow's lesson.

Have fun!
