CD Cover Evaluation

Please print your CD cover (in colour) and place into your blue coursework folder. then open up a word document and write an evaluation of your CD cover using the questions below.

Your evaluation must be between 500 - 750 words and you must answer the following questions in your response:

  • What research and planning did you carry out before you made your CD cover? 
  • In preparation for producing my CD cover, I carried out the following research tasks ...... This helped me to find out... Also, I planned out my CD cover by.... 
  • What audience is your CD cover aimed at and how have you made sure that it will appeal to them? 
  • The CD cover I have produced is aimed at (be specific with age range, gender etc)... I have tried to make it appeal to them by including...  this will appeal to them because...
  • Looking at your final CD cover, explain how the media language represents gender? (consider camerawork/framing/mise-en-scene/layout/font style/colours)? 
  • My final CD cover constructs a representation to show that women are ... I have constructed this representation through the media language I have chosen. For example, the camerawork.... (then explain how the camerawork shows this etc).
  • How does your CD cover follow the conventions of a typical CD cover?

  • How does your CD cover follow the conventions of the genre and what impact does this have on the representation of women?

MARK SCHEME:


Level 4 (16–20 marks) 
  • There is excellent reference to the ways the production is aimed at a target audience. 
  • There is an excellent understanding of the ways in which media language has been used to construct representation. 
  • There is an excellent understanding of the ways in which generic codes and conventions have been used to construct representation. 
  • The evaluation is excellent, with a clear sense of reflection on the work. 
  • There is an accurate command of medium-specific terminology
